I just had the Gastric Sleeve done this past Monday, July 12th. What a great decision!! This whole organization is AMAZING!! From the nurses to Dr. Sandy Martinez. I never felt uncomfortable or scared. From the minute Dr. Sandy looked at me in the operating room and said "Listo?" to my waking up in my hospital room with my wonderful husband waiting for me, I knew I was in good hands.
The following day Ricardo Salazar and Consuelo Hernandez stopped by to personally chat with me and meet me. That was impressive.
Top notch. Super straightforward, extremely clean facility and Dr. Sandy and her team are the most caring medical staff I have ever met.

A Two-Step Surgery
Step 1
Your bariatric surgeon will reduce your stomach by about 75%. The remaining 25% of the stomach is shaped into a small pouch using a laparoscopic stapler. This limits the amount of food you can eat.
Step 2
Dr. Martinez will bypass up to the first seven feet of the intestine when she attaches it to your smaller stomach. This results in your body absorbing fewer calories.
The excess stomach and intestine will remain in place, so digestive fluids from the stomach can travel through the intestines.
Adapting Your Lifestyle to Maintain Your Results
For any bariatric surgery results to have success, patients must follow post-surgery guidelines and adopt new healthy habits.
For the first day after your procedure, you will be limited to consuming clear liquids. Your diet will mostly be liquids for the first few following weeks. Eventually, you'll be back to eating solid foods again.
As you progress through your recovery, you can expect to make these lifestyle changes:
Drinking Water Every Day
Drinking at least two liters, or about half a gallon, of water a day will keep your skin hydrated and help you digest food more easily.
Eating Nutrient-Rich Food
Alcohol and sugary foods generally have a lot of calories. Since the number of calories you can now eat is greatly reduced, you will want to eat foods that are lower-calorie and higher in nutrients. Eating fruits, vegetables, and lean meats can prevent you from having an upset stomach.
Taking Multivitamins
The amount of vitamins you can absorb from food is limited after a mini gastric bypass. To achieve proper nutrition, you should take multivitamins.
Options Beyond a Mini Gastric Bypass
Gastric Sleeve
Gastric sleeve surgery removes 80% of your stomach, limiting the amount of food you can eat. Your new banana-sized stomach will enable you to eat a full balanced diet without feeling full.
Gastric Bypass
If you struggle with acid reflux, have a family history of obesity, or are over the age of 35, a gastric bypass may be a better option for achieving your weight loss goals.
